The Portland Heights Dinner Dance Club is a members-only club dedicated to providing a cordial setting for socializing, dining and dancing. In a normal year, we host seven dinner dances on the first Saturday of October, November, December, February, April, May, and June. Each evening offers cocktails, dinner, dancing to a live band and refreshments throughout the evening.

Who We Are

The Club was started by a group of West Hills residents who were eager to have dinner dance events they could regularly enjoy, taking turns hosting them in their homes. Since beginning in 1900, Portland Heights Dance Club is still a thriving club that hosts seven dinner dances a year at the Laurelhurst Club, with our members taking turns on the hosting committees. Our dance club is open to adults of all ages, and looking to grow our membership.

Our History

Join Us!

New members of PHDC are brought in through an introduction by an existing member couple. After attending a dance, a guest couple may apply for membership through a simple email or phone call to your host couple or the membership chair couple. Your request will be discussed and voted on at the next board meeting. Once you are voted in, you will be a full member couple and may invite your friends to be guests at upcoming dances. Our annual dance fees and membership fees are prorated if you join mid-dance season.

There are plenty of ballroom classes in the Portland area, but only this private club provides monthly events, orchestrated by members to enjoy hosted happy hour, fine dining, elegant themed balls, live music, and beautiful dance floor, with gracious members who have a similar passion for dancing.

The Portland Heights Dance Club holds monthly events where you can dress formally, enjoy cocktails, sit to a great buffet dinner and then ballroom dance to music from a live band. We have been members of the club since 2018 and always look forward to the next dance. We have met some truly wonderful people at the club and enjoy seeing them each time. It’s quite the social event where you catch up with old friends, eat a great dinner and dance to your heart’s content.
